Friday’s Recommendation #2

Bonjour à tous…

Another Friday, another meme, another recommendation. As usual, every Friday Ren’s Little Corner held a meme called Friday’s Recommendation.  For today I would love to recommended a novel from my favorite author : Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I’ve posted a review of her another book, Match Me If You Can, in this blog. I recommended this book for you to read and also with hope that a publisher will translated this book.

Kiss An Angel

Genre : Contemporary Romance

Synopsis :

Pretty, flighty Daisy Devreaux can either go to jail or marry the mystery man her father has chosen for her. Arranged marriages don’t happen in the modern world, so how did the irrepressible Daisy find herself in this fix?

Alex Markov, as humorless as he is deadly handsome, has no intention of playing the loving bridegroom to a spoiled little feather-head with champagne tastes. He drags Daisy from her uptown life to a broken down traveling circus and sets out to tame her to his ways.

But this man without a soul has met his match in a woman who’s nothing but heart. Before long, passion will send them flying sky high without a safety net… risking it all in search of a love that will last forever.

Why I Pick This Book :

Because SEP written this book superbly, wonderfully, and just plain GREAT. I gave this book 5 stars plus plus plus….

I loved this book so much. The characters was amazingly unique. A hero, whose job is circus player (hello, I slightly worried to started this book because his work, what kind hero would he be with circus background). Heroine, a spoiled rich girl with naive personality and cry-baby type of woman. A cruel father and step mother. A tiger. An elephant.

It was emotional journey read this book. SEP didn’t made us fall in love instantly with the characters. Daisy seem way to meek but, inside she has a big heart and crazy stubbornness. I even detest Alex, because he was so cruel to Daisy. It was hard in the beginning of the story, their relationship was not an easy one. And Daisy, with another circus member prejudice of her, always being turned against, even Alex didn’t believe her.

SEP has done an excellent job at portraying each character in this story, their transformation, and how they growth. Still humorous and funny with witty dialogue.  This book also more explicit in sexual department,  and there’s some strong language, little bit unusual for SEP. Oh, I forgot to mention, Alex was Russian!!! Yeay, what it is about Russian hero (it remind me of Ilya, Christine Feeehan’s hero)…

The most beautiful thing from SEP books is the grovelling scene. Oh My God, Holly Molly.. This book has the greatest grovelling scene I ever read. Seriously melting my heart. It was gut wrenching. Well, Alex deserved it, he was totally acted like a big jerk (I hated him over again).

Overall, Kiss An Angel is one of the best contemporary romance novels.  Highly recommended  this book to every romance reader out there.

Bonne lecture!!!

“I don’t love you anymore”, she whispered. “I don’t love you at all.” His throat closed.

“It’s all right, sweetheart. I love you enough for both of us.”
